Campbell Meditation Music – Disney’s Frozen, “Let It Go”

Campbell Meditation Music – Disney’s Frozen, “Let It Go” The film  Frozen  has caused a sensation, leading the successful revival of Disney.  Frozen  not only won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature last winter, but also won the Best Animated Feature Film and the Best Original Song (for  Let It Go)  at the Academy Awards in March this year. Idina Menzel’s  Let It Go  has set fire to the world through its popularity. As the title  Let It Go  literally suggests, Elsa could no longer conceal her gift – magic with ice – which she had to conceal. She would finally accept herself as she is and live more beautifully and confidently with that ability. In fact, the title  Let It Go  itself sounds very good. When we keep something in our mind and regret about the past, we often hear that from our family or friends: let it go… it has already passed so let it go… let your mind be at ease now. However, it is not easy to actually let go of everything from our mind even

Campbell Meditation Travel – La Jolla Beach of San Diego

Campbell Meditation – La Jolla Beach of San Diego The first beach I had ever visited when I came to San Diego was La Jolla beach. Even though I am not able to visit the place as often as I wish, I can still vividly remember how beautiful the sunset was from La Jolla beach. The beach is about 20-25 minutes away by car from San Diego downtown. If you are planning to go and visit La Jolla beach, you must not unsee the sunset. The sunset upon wide blue horizon was unforgettably beautiful. I reached the beach a few minutes prior to the sunset and took a walk along the shore. Soon enough I was watching the sky is dimming and the sun is hanging on the horizon- What a beautiful moment it was! In fact, you still can see the beautiful sunset and how the sky turns pink, from the downtown, however I strongly recommend watching a sunset at La Jolla Beach. Another “must-see” at this beach is seals and sea lions leisurely resting on the shore. Of course the odor and the noise can be sometimes

Campbell Meditation Column – Always With a Thankful Heart

Campbell Meditation Column – Always With a Thankful Heart Give thanks in all circumstances. We have heard it so many times and many are actually trying to carry it out. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. ‘Why can’t I be thankful?’We regret our inability to feel gratitude and resolve to give thanks. It seems that human mind is unable to give thanks easily and that it actually comes more naturally to feel a sense of entitlement. We naturally have irritation and complaints about conditions surrounding us, and it is difficult to find our thankful heart. Why? Wouldn’t our mind be the cause of all these problems? As we reflect on things that we have only carelessly thought about, we might realize that all of the problems have been caused by ‘ me. ’ The world’s truth is that you see the world as it is, as you see it. This is the logic of the world. However, people are stuck so deeply in their mind world that they cannot see the world as it is, as it is seen. That’s how life is t

Campbell Meditation Music – Kenny Chesney’s I Go Back

Let’s Find Freedom and Go Back to Our Original Hometown: I Go Back – Kenny Chesney Kenny Chesney is a very famous country singer/songwriter in America. When listening to his songs, you feel that you let go of the burdens of your daily life and you have returned to the home town you used to live. Most of the country songs are about nature and memory of the past. So when listening to them, you feel comfortable. In particular, Kenny Chesney’s songs are all free in style and have very beautiful lyrics. This song  I Go Back  makes us miss our childhood and gives us an opportunity to forget about the difficulty and loneliness of the reality for a moment and recall the beautiful memories of the past. We all miss our hometown. We all miss the joyful and peaceful times of the past. This might be because the current life is too tough. We bear too many burdens, things do not work out as we wish, and disappointing things happen more than hopeful things. That’s why people reminisce about their

Campbell Meditation Book – The Old Man And The Sea

The Old Man And The Sea – A Lesson Of Abandonment We Have Missed Since Hemingway’s novel “The Old Man and the Sea” was published in 1952, it has been continuously loved by the world. Hemingway was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in Literature with “The Old Man and the Sea”. Its plot and the lesson are already well known. The novel also has something in common with this month’s theme of Wisdoms ‘abandonment.’ The main character of the novel is Santiago, a fisherman who catches fish on a skiff in a Cuban fishing village. Since he hasn’t caught any fish for 84 days, even a boy who typically follows him has to take another boat. Santiago alone rows a skiff to the deep sea far from land and finally catches a big marlin that is bigger than his skiff. Due to its enormous size and weight, he has a battle lasting over two days but eventually wins. He then straps the fish on the side of his skiff and returns home. On the way back, he is attacked by sharks which are at

Campbell Meditation Experience – I became free from jealousy and competitive mind through this meditation

Campbell Meditation Experience - I became free from jealousy and competitive mind through this meditation Amarjit Khatri I've always been jealous and competitive since childhood. Born as the eldest son in my family, my grandfather always taught me that I should always live a successful life. My mother also had a different expectation from me than my brothers. My brothers never had any tutors, but for me, my parents always gave me the opportunity of having a tutor. Therefore, I had no choice but to have excellent academic results compared to my younger siblings. In class, I was constantly competing with another student for the top spot, alternating between 1st and 2nd place. Even the school teachers had high expectations of me. They all expected me to live a life of success. I received the attention and praise of my family and those around me, and because of this, I felt somewhat burdened. Also, growing up, I was a very sensitive child. Because of that when I was studying

Campbell Meditation Music - Moon River and the Story Of Rainbow

Moon River, Melody that Brings You to Real Home over the Rainbow I would like to introduce you to a song called Moon River written by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini. The video clip below is a scene from the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Audrey Hepburn is perching on the window and singing this song while playing the ukulele. Moon river, wider than a mile I’m crossing you in style some day Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker Wherever you’re going, I’m going your way Two drifters, off to see the world, there’s such a lot of world to see We’re after the same rainbow’s end, waiting ‘round the bend My huckleberry friend, moon river and me The silent yet deep melody pervades throughout the mind. It sounds so warm that one can listen to it all the time. It arouses longing for the home. This video clip below is an orchestral version of  Moon River  performed by London FILMharmonic Orchestra. A story comes to my mind while listening to the melody of the orc

Campbell Meditation Column – Life Is A Moment Of 0.000001 Seconds

Our life is finite. The average lifespan of human is 70~80 years. Some people will have an even shorter life as a result of deadly accidents or illnesses. When we are young, it doesn’t seem that life is so short and we don’t realize that life passes by in the blink of an eye. But you soon get to your 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, etc. Man only has one chance in the world and then he leaves as quickly as he came into the world. That thing called  life  is too short. That’s why many are very curious about this thing called life. Why were we born? Why do humans live? And where do we go after we die? Mankind has been researching since we can remember and putting a lot of effort into finding the solution, for example, through philosophy or religion. As it implies, this is the most important matter in one’s life. Humans are born, go to school, grow up and graduate; they then go into society and earn money; they also marry and have children; they become middle-aged and then old; and they eventua

Campbell Meditation Column – Why are people so excited about the movie, “Parasite”?

Campbell Meditation Column –  Why are people so excited about the movie, “Parasite”? Director Bong Joon-ho’s film Parasite was the first foreign film to be awarded an Oscar for Best Picture, winning a total of four of the six categories it was nominated for in this year’s Academy Awards. Many famous filmmakers and actors have praised by Bong Joon-ho for his film, “Parasite”. North American box office profits for Parasite have been steadily increasing since winning the Academy Awards. In addition, director Bong was invited to major talk shows, such as the Tonight Show. When reading the many movie critiques and reviews, there is a common theme about this movie that allows the audience to be sympathetic to the characters. Or, as in the title of the movie, the meaning of the word parasite is referring to our own image reflected in modern society. At the end, the protagonists feed off, consume, and use each other while pretending to be nice, kind, and caring. In fact, we are d

Corona Pandemic, the best way to overcome this tough time

These days, because of the corona pandemic, the economy has come to a halt and people are unable to go about their daily lives. As such, many are finding this situation to be difficult and weary. At this time, it is still up in the air as to when exactly this shelter-in-place will come to an end and life can resume as normal. As shown in the verse above, difficulties arise from the mind when we do not live a life of nature’s flow, so it is of utmost importance to clean up our minds through meditation during this period. Meditation is to get rid of one’s false mind – all the thoughts and mindsets i.e., difficulties, pain, fear, depression, all come from the fake, the imaginary self. Those who do not possess self are able to follow the life that nature lives because they are completely free from the anguish and negative human minds. People can truly enjoy complete peace and freedom only when they have the mind of nature’s flow. The life of holding onto one’s painful self and l
