Campbell Meditation Movie – Bucket List(2007)

There is a film called The Bucket List starring leading actors, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The bucket list refers to a list of things people want to accomplish before their death. It is to achieve things that one hasn’t yet done in one’s life, such as a trip around the world or reading more than 100 books, among many others. Why would people make such a bucket list? Simply because no one knows what happens when they die. Because human has no wisdom, he cannot know where he came from, why he lives, and where he goes after he dies. The only way to know is to have the mind of wisdom. If we obtain the universe mind that is the mind of wisdom, while living, we can clearly know where human came from, why he lives and where he goes upon death because that mind knows all of the principles of the world. The reason why human is afraid of death is also because he does not have wisdom and knows nothing about what happens upon death. So, I would like to tell you about one item th

Campbell Meditation Column – How to live well

Campbell Meditation Column – How to live well Such words as ‘stress’ and ‘depression’ are overused these days. Everyone seems to live with unsolved questions of life and a void that can never be filled no matter how much you try to fill it. There is nowhere you can truly rest; loneliness chases you everywhere and people endlessly search for and obtain something to fill up and soothe the mind. What everyone pursues will eventually be never-changing happiness. It would be truly resting without any worries even for a moment… Happiness – true rest – really sounds like an unreachable goal that is difficult for us who are living in this generation. Can I ever become happy? Can I really live well? Within the endless burden and pain of the mind, it might be fearful and dreadful to live every day. The moment a day ends, you sigh that you have endured a day. The moment a new morning starts, you might barely open your heavy eyes and be at a loss about how you can endure today. Joy happe

Campbell Meditation Column – Wisdom Of Alexander The Great

Campbell Meditation Column – Wisdom Of Alexander The Great Do you remember Alexander the Great, the leader who once unified the entire continent of Europe? With his exceptional leadership and courage, he is the very man who unified Europe, a feat which no one had ever achieved before. I want to introduce a short yet important anecdote about him. When he was sick and lying upon his deathbed after having already accomplished the unification of the Europe, his courtiers asked him what he would write in his will. He then called out some orders to his courtiers: First, rather than digging a big grave, bury him in a very plain, small grave. Second, bury his entire body instead of cremating it, and bury him with one of his hands unburied. He commands them to deliver his message to people. “Even, I, the Great King who unified Europe, goes empty handed when he dies.” He tells them to spread these words. It’s a well-known anecdote. Alexander was indeed, a great king who deserved respe

Campbell Meditation Column – We Need A New Sensation.

Campbell Meditation Column - We Need A New Sensation. These days, most people can check emails, play games or do some work with a smart phone in one hand at any time. Various kinds of telecommunication devices have become the necessity for modern people. It is not unusual to see people use such devices all the time. It is now the generation that whatever happens around the world can be easily encountered in your hand wherever you are – in a room or on the street. There has also been news that a new form of computer that you can wear as clothes would be available in near future. As it was said earlier, smart phones or PCs being used every day is a reality of 2013 but in the old days, it couldn’t have been imagined. Similarly, the scenes of people riding horses to deliver mail and news from place to place or times when people lived without electricity have become a scene in history to modern people. Until mankind reached today’s advanced civilization, so many sensations have conti

Campbell Meditation Music – Up In The Air OST by Kevin Renick

Up In The Air(Sung by Kevin Renick w/Ted Moniak) I’m up in the air Choices drifting by me everywhere. And I can’t find the one That would help me do the work I’ve left undone, ‘Cause I’m up in the air. I’m making some plans, Finding out there’s always new demands. And I can’t be precise; When people ask me what I’m doing with my life, I say, “It’s up in the air” I’m hearing from friends. It’s that tired, old advice again: “You just cannot keep floating all around. Oh, you got to get your feet back on the ground.” But it’s hard to come down When you’re up in the air. I’m traveling in my car, Always lost, though I don’t go that far. I find that I can live most anywhere. Everyone I meet has so much they can share. But I don’t settle down, ‘Cause I’m up in the air. I’m thinking of my past, The comfort in my home that couldn’t last. Now my family tells me work for your success, And they want to see me find some happiness. But I’m not sure where that is, ‘Cause I’m up in the ai

Campbell Meditation Column – When everybody recovers their humanity

On average, Americans receive 14 years of education (Fed Reserve Bank of St. Louis). Within those 14 years, the number of hours is also mandated by individual states, with most states requiring 175-180 days of school per year and about 900 – 1000 hours of instructional time a year. Not only do students receive an education at school, but they also receive education during extracurricular after-school programs, private tutoring academies, and specialized camps during vacations. Most students, parents, teachers, and the society at large strive for a “great” education. As a collective, America is investing about 55.9 billion hours a year (55.9 million children enrolled in public and private schools x 1000 hours a year) and 634 billion dollars to educate the children in the hopes that they will be able to land a job, make money, and help move our country forward so we can all live prosperous and successful lives. It is phenomenal that we are working hard as a nation for our physical

Campbell Meditation Movie -James Carmeron’s Avatar(2009)

Let’s talk about  Avatar , the one of the top all-time American box office hit that had spectacularly opened the generation of 3D films. It has magnificent visual art but its scenario is also brilliant. The real world and the false world… If you have watched  Avatar , you would know what it means. From the human perspective, the real world in the movie is referred to the world we are living and the false world is the world of Avatars where huge archaeopteryxes fly and a huge blue colored species live. We regard the world distant from the human world as the false world. I won’t talk about the synopsis of  Avatar . But what I would like to talk about is – to borrow  Avatar ’s motto – that the world we live in now seems real but is actually the false world, like a virtual world where Avatars live. It would be difficult to understand but this concept is depicted not only in  Avatar  but also in the  Matrix  with Keanu Reeves. Humans do not live in the world of reality but in a p
