Campbell Meditation Column – About Happiness

Campbell Meditation Column – About Happiness What does “happiness” mean to you? Happiness can mean different things to different people: A comfortable position for the body, a sense of accomplishment, a temporary moment of forgetting all of the worries and smiling and laughing, taking a trip or holiday off from work, love, family, etc. People are constantly trying to accomplish that happiness. Sometimes, that thing called happiness seems so far away. Even though happiness comes along, we cannot even enjoy it as we wish. Because it is happiness that could vanish at any time, we cannot just be grateful for it. Instead we feel anxious that it could vanish and when it does leave, we are disappointed and hurt, yearning for it to return. This is not true happiness. We blame the world for our unhappiness and we resent others for being happy while we are not. But does never-changing happiness exist at all? It would be real if it does not change. Then, what on earth is real happi...

Review of Teacher Woo Myung Book – Living Eternal World

Review of Teacher Woo Myung Book – Living Eternal World Patricia Garcia I enjoy discovering new books regarding meditation. By chance, I stumbled upon a book on Amazon called The Living Eternal World by Woo Myung and read good reviews, so I decided to order the book. Once I received the book and opened it, I noticed the format was different from the books I typically read. Rather than lengthy chapters, this book was written in verses and stanzas of two or three pages at a time. The simplicity appeared it would be an easy read. However, as simple as it was, I also found The Living Eternal World to be very poignant. Every page drew me in because the concept of absolute truth is explained in such a way that I had not heard of before: the absolute truth is the infinite universe. This book is written from the perspective which enables people of all the major religions to easily understand what God, Buddha, Heaven, repentance, and salvation are. It is a true philosophy book sans...

Campbell Meditation Column – Meditation and Coronavirus

Campbell Meditation Column – Meditation and Coronavirus Title : How to strengthen your immunity during the coronavirus pandemic: Exercise, meditation, sleep and stress management (CNN Health News) Meditation If you haven’t tried mediation, now might be a good time to start. A  recent review  involving 20 randomized, controlled trials including more than 1,600 people suggested that meditation may help keep our immune system functioning optimally. A stressful circumstance like what we are experiencing now can negatively affect the immune system, but “a consistent meditation practice can help us better respond to stressful situations,” explained Ellie Burrows Gluck, a Vedic meditation teacher and the founder and CEO of  MNDFL , a meditation studio in New York City that also offers live-streamed, at-home practices with meditation experts  at MNDFL TV . “Life is messy, and although meditation isn’t a cure all it can help us to remember to breathe and tha...

Campbell Meditation Movie – Disney’s The Lion King

If people were asked to name one of the most famous masterpieces from Disney’s animations, many would likely pick  The Lion King . Even though it has been 26 years since the movie was released, it is still remembered in the hearts of people, loved by audiences worldwide, and has also been made into a musical on Broadway. Why are people so enthusiastic about Lion King, and why has it remained a beloved movie by many for so long? The reason could be because it resembles our lives in a number of ways. A common theme mentioned by critics and audiences alike is about endurance. The fact that Simba lost his father, survived the threat to his life from his uncle Scar, survived to meet his friends Timon and Pumbaa, to have undergone such an ordeal, only to rise again to become the king of the jungle illustrates endurance as being one of the major themes. But I would like to interpret this film from another point of view: Overcoming yourself. To achieve what we want and succeed i...

Campbell Meditation Review- I was able to Reach Moksha

Santa Clara Meditation Review – I Was Able to Reach Moksha Through this Meditation A. Kumar / Software Engineer I was born in the city of New Delhi in India and immigrated to the United States when I was 13 years old. My family is Hindu as is the case for most Indians. Therefore, from a young age, Hinduism was an integral part of my life, regarding Dharma; the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva; and Moksha (a life of liberation), which my father always spoke of and taught us that this was the way we should live. Since I had become more immersed in the American way of life during my youth, it was difficult for me to relate to the things my father tried to teach us. However, now that I’m in my 40s, I’ve started rethinking some of the things my father taught me. Perhaps it is because I am the primary breadwinner for the family of my own that I now have or maybe it is from the stress I’ve accumulated over the years from the long hours at work that I started thinking about why it is ...
